GHANA AIPORT COMPANY LIMITED SACKS 2 STAFF OVER EXTORTION AND BEGGING

Accra International Airport has taken decisive action against unethical behavior in its operations, as the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has dismissed two employees for their involvement in begging and extortion activities. This crackdown is part of a broader effort to maintain the airport’s integrity and reputation, ensuring that travelers have a safe and pleasant experience.

Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare has urged travelers to consistently request receipts and document the identities of airport personnel who solicit tips; this practice will assist management in identifying and sanctioning any offenders, thereby promoting a more transparent and accountable airport environment.

She says the lack of sufficient evidence from complainants often makes it difficult to take disciplinary action against those involved.

The GACL emphasized its commitment to upholding high standards of conduct among its staff, vowing to implement strict measures to prevent such misconduct in the future. This initiative is expected to deter any further incidents and restore confidence in airport services among passengers and stakeholders alike
