PUBLIC ADVISORY TO GHANAIAN COMMUNITY

The Ghana High Commission in Pretoria wishes to advise members of the Ghanaian community to continue to exercise heightened vigilance and take appropriate precautionary measures due to the protest activities reported in parts of the country, particularly within KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng Provinces.

Although there are currently no confirmed nationwide shutdown or large-scale protests, the prevailing situation remains tense and unpredictable.

In light of the foregoing, the Mission strongly advises Ghanaian nationals to:

Minimise unnecessary movement within identified hotspot areas, particularly around central business districts (CBDs), transport hubs, informal trading zones, and known protest routes;

Close businesses where local tensions are high;

Refrain from engaging in confrontations or provocative discussions, including on social-media platforms;

Ensure that passports, residence permits, and other identification documents are readily available at all times;

Remain alert and promptly report suspicious activities, threats, or incidents to local law enforcement authorities and the Mission.

The Mission will continue to monitor the situation closely and engage the appropriate South African authorities to safeguard the welfare and security of Ghanaian nationals. Members of the Ghanaian community are encouraged to remain calm, law-abiding, security conscious, and cooperative with local authorities.
